The chair for Proteomics and Biochemistry is a leading group in functional proteomics research using cutting-edge mass spectrometry technologies. Research in the Warscheid lab overall aims at gaining detailed knowledge about proteome organization, organelle cross-talk and biogenesis, as well as the regulation of intracellular signalling networks.

For our project “High-resolution proteomics of dynamic protein machineries” within the DFG-funded CRC 1381 “Dynamic organization of cellular protein machineries: From biogenesis and modular assembly to function” ( we are looking for a highly motivated and qualified new team member. He/she will perform quantitative and structural proteomics studies to expand our understanding of the dynamic organization and functional principle of protein machineries.

Your tasks:

  • perform and advance quantitative crosslinking technology
  • conduct cutting-edge native MS analyses of dynamic protein machineries
  • perform quantitative MS analyses and study posttranslational protein modifications
  • be responsible for operating LC and MS systems (Orbitrap & high-mass MS systems)
  • perform bioinformatics and statistical analysis of MS data
  • design and manage proteomics projects and collaborate with leading researchers
  • publish and communicate your research results and contribute to project proposals
  • participate in supervision and mentoring of students

Your profile:

  • PhD degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Physics, or a related discipline
  • excellent track record with first/co-author publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • hands-on experience in high-resolution LC-MS
  • proficient in MS sample preparation, peptide enrichment and quantitative proteomics
  • excellent knowledge in proteomics, biochemistry and/or molecular biology approaches
  • sound experience in bioinformatics data processing and biostatistics
  • skills in common programming/script languages (Python, R)
  • high degree of analytical thinking and creativity
  • excellent communication, writing, and organizational skills
  • highly self-motivated and enthusiastic for MS technologies


Our group publishes in high-ranking journals (Morgenstern et al. Cell Metab 2021, Lill et al., PNAS 2020; Dewar et al., Reimann et al., Commun Biol 2020; Topf et al., Nat Commun 2018, Morgenstern et al., 2017; Peikert et al., Nat Commun 2017; Wrobel et al., Nature 2015).
